Teeth Whitening
When you look in the mirror, do you like your smile? We think that everyone deserves to be proud of the way their teeth look. If your teeth have gotten yellowed over time, you may want to consider a teeth whitening procedure. At Campsie Family Dental, we provide options so that you can love your bright, beautiful smile again.
We utilise Zoom teeth whitening from Philips, which is thought of as the gold standard in the dental industry. It’s used all over the globe and can give you dazzling results. Choose from having an in-office procedure or a take-home whitening kit.
In-Office Bleaching
If you choose to come to the practice for your whitening appointment, it will be completed in a 90-minute session. We’ll apply the bleaching agent in 15-minute intervals, completing a total of four cycles. You’ll see an instant change afterwards. You may notice some sensitivity for up to two days. Please note that we advise you to avoid red wine, curry or anything else that can stain your teeth for 3-4 days after you’ve had your teeth whitened.
Take-Home Whitening
With your take-home kit, it will take a bit longer to see the effects of whitening. It’s cost-effective and occurs more gradually than in-office whitening. We’ll take impressions of your mouth to create customised trays. You’ll apply the whitening gel into the trays, then wear them for 30 minutes a day. Within 2-3 weeks, you’ll see the maximum results.
Do You Need to Have Your Teeth Whitened?
Often, what you may think of as discolouration on your teeth are surface stains that can be easily removed. When you come in for your consultation, we’ll make sure you’re a candidate for whitening and that your teeth are clean. We’ll use our water spray system to remove any surface stains present. Commonly, our patients see how white their teeth look and opt not to have a procedure done because of the instant results they see!
Frequently Asked Questions
What about whitening kits at the chemist? Do they work well?
While there are many whitening options available at the chemist, they have lower concentrations of whitening agents. As a result, you won’t get the same results as you would with professional whitening. Whitening kits from the chemist also can leave uneven results, which is certainly not a good look.
Will my teeth feel sensitive afterwards?
There is the possibility of feeling some sensitivity following your whitening treatment that will typically subside in a day or two.
Are there any foods or drinks I should avoid after whitening?
To extend your whitening results for as long as possible, you should refrain from consuming coffee, tea, red wine, berries and tomato sauce. You also should avoid tobacco products.
